Our Story

Wilderness Air Service, located in Vermilion Bay, was first established in the 1970s by local flying legend Robby Robinson. In 1982, the company was purchased by Robert (Bob) Hutikka, who successfully ran it with his daughter Kelsey Renaud by his side for 40 years. In 2025, the air service was purchased by Chris and Nicole Rob, along with partners Derek and Cass Becker. Now under new ownership, Wilderness Air Service (Eh Team) seeks to uphold that legacy of safe, enjoyable, and reliable service, with plans to carry it to even greater heights.

Wilderness Air has provided lifelong memories to countless anglers and adventurers for decades. We have a long history of providing excellent and safe service in the heart of Northwestern Ontario. Beyond the scope of tourism, we have supported various government initiatives in conservation, exploration, and the protection of our natural resources.

Our classic fleet consists of a PT6 powered DHC 3T Turbo Otter, a rare and elegant DHC 3 Standard Otter, 2 DHC 2 Beavers, and a Cessna 185, all great performers maintained to an excellent standard.

Located about a mile north of the Trans Canada Highway near the small town of Vermilion Bay, our location ideally blends the remote beauty and ruggedness that Northwestern Ontario is known for, with convenient access to key amenities within a five minute drive.
